The big-hitting American seemingly popped it back in himself as his celebrations were cut short, with his participation in the year’s opening major in serious jeopardy. However, Finau defied the ankle injury with a superb four-under-par 68 – good enough for the lead at one stage before a red-hot Jordan Spieth claimed a two-stroke lead by the close of play on Thursday....

A group who had gathered to play a game of soccer discovered the makeshift devices made of rope around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday opposite the York Community High School in Elmhurst. In an address to the International Sports Press Association (AIPS) here, United States Soccer Federation president Carlos Cordeiro said the 48-team tournament would hand world governing body FIFA a record USD 11 billion (9.25 billion euros) profit. “I can announce today that, working with FIFA, we expect that a 2026 World Cup in North America would generate a new record: more than USD 14 billion in revenue for FIFA,” said Cordeiro, one of the three co-chairs of the bid....

In a statement published Thursday by Pyongyang’s official Korean Central News Agency, Korea-Europe Association adviser Kim Son Gyong blasted the U.K., France and Germany after their United Nations envoys condemned on Tuesday “repeated provocative launches” conducted by North Korea over the past month and encouraged it to reinvigorate talks with the United States. Such tests were considered a violation of U.N. Security Council resolutions, but Kim Son Gyong pointed out his country has “never acknowledged” such restrictions imposed on it....
