Shared on r/PublicFreakout, reddit users watched as a bunch of police cars lined up across the street. Because of social distancing, the police officers could not step outside of their cars. Over their microphones, the officers started singing Patty and Mildred J. Hill’s popular 1893 song, “Happy Birthday to You!” The young boy named Will smiled as the police cars blasted their sirens loudly before leaving the neighborhood.

In the video, a male voice can be heard cheering and saying, “Thank you, guys!”

On Friday morning, actor Riteish Deshmukh shared the viral video on social media. @Riteishd tweeted, “What a good gesture. In USA, a father called police and told them it was his son’s Birthday and no one came due to Covid-19. See the amazing response from the police!”

Before you start saying, “Hey, aren’t the police supposed to stop crime?” Remember, this is a nice and sweet gesture during these difficult times. No one wants to celebrate their birthdays all alone.

Police and fire departments in North Jersey towns, such as Prospect Park and Morristown, are actually participating in drive-by birthday celebrations. Fire trucks and police vehicles arrive with their lights flashing and sirens screeching during the ceremony, according to NorthJersey.com. Will’s father reportedly called the police and requested them to do their drive-by.
